Topas Ecolodge

We stayed 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The rooms are large and the bed was very comfy. The bathroom was big and the porch was perfect for reading a book. There were lots of other areas to sit and relax....including the main lodge where we would have a drink and sit near the fire before dinner. Although the food was pricey for Vietnamese standards, it was fantastic....fine dining type food. The portions were also very large. The breakfast buffet was large and had lots of variety. The staff were also great and accommodating. The hiking in the area is wonderful .......just know that the village ladies outside the gate will follow you .... they are very nice but some get angry if you don’t buy from them (even though we gave each of them money for coming with us). My only critique is given it is so isolated from Sapa, perhaps you could have yoga or tai chi in the mornings or afternoon. A sign at the bottom of the stairs after the pool telling us which direction the main lodge is would also be helpful to those that arrive in the dense fog and can’t see two feet in front of them!

Topas was awesome! The stunning scenery, the lovely rooms, great food, fantastic heated swimming pool, excellent staff... truly a fantastic way to finish our Vietnam holiday. The weather is by no means guaranteed (obviously). We had two days of cloud and a day and a half of sun. The days of cloud were great as you got hints of they views! The hotel arranged a trip to Mt Fansipan and Sapa and this was brilliant and thoroughly recommended. The staff are really great, there is the occasional language issue but these are local people who are learning languages as they work, they are a credit to the hotel and some of the guests would do well to have some patience / understanding! There is a new swimming pool being built at the moment but this didn’t detract from the view or cause any issues. I would not hesitate to go back, it’s a fantastic hotel in breathtaking scenery!

As all photos will tell, the location of this very special place is extraordinary - perched on the top of a mountain at 1,000m. Within, the setting itself has been very carefully thought out and planned too, with an area for meals, separate tables / terraces for coffee or drinks, areas both in- and outside to relax, the pool area - and, in summer, a barbecue spot. Spending a lazy day here was an absolute treat - sth very rare for us, as we are always on the move, and don’t usually hang around! We did, however, also enjoy walking through local villages, chatting to some of the beautiful Red Dao women who led us through Thanh Kim village, borrowing bikes to get to another village, and taking the cable car to Phan Xi Pan (Fansipan). The Ecolodge staff were very helpful in all these, even if not directly involved. The infinity pool is small but sublime and in the most stunning setting. Heavenly at the end if the day. Breakfast was 6* - we felt thoroughly spoilt - each ingredient is top quality and apparently mostly sourced locally. Staff - from local minorities - went out of their way to ensure guests had everything they needed, and were cheery and smiley at all times. They do so well! It was fantastic and a real privilege to witness sustainable tourism to this extent, and one that supports the area / local community down to the last grain of rice. Thank you for this amazing and unique experience!

I absolutely loved this lodge. It was quiet and very cozy. I did the hiking package which includes transportation from hanoi as well as 2 guided hikes. I had Sung as my guide and she was fantastic! She was very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff at the lodge are also so friendly and helpful. Be aware of visiting in January. I lucked out with good weather but the fog was heavy my last day which definitely took away the amazing views. Overall, this is the perfect place if you are looking for somewhere off the beaten path away from the touristy places.

Everything was awesome! I really have nothing much to complain except the food at the restaurant is just ok and it's really up to my standard. The rest everything is amazing, starting from we arrive here early in the morning and the staff gave us the room to rest from our 18 hours trip to reach here. We were surprise but in the same time we are so happy to finally get to shower and sleep on proper bed.

Everything was just perfect and amazing the remote place, friendly staff, nice rooms... unfortunately we saw more clouds & rains than rice fields. But topas eco lodge will be unforgettable. Thank you very much.

Everyting was perfect! From booking to check out. They arranged a VIP-bus to pick us up in Hanoi. The food was awsome. The bungalows were clean and spacoius, with a amazing view! Friendly profesional staff. We want to come back when the rice terrasses are blooming :)

Yes the place is stunning, as can be seen in most pictures. However the service and the attention to detail and guest comfort is what made our trip so memorable and amazing. The attention to detail from the minimal and tasteful furnishings in the room, to the eco-friendly water bottles, to the heated radiator in the bathroom, the amazingly comfortable duvets... every square inch of this property reflects thought, mindfulness and care. Our stay was made even more memorable through the amazing hospitality extended to us by the Executive Assistant Manager Mr. Vu and the Mr.Thang who ensured that we had some of the best, freshest and tastiest vegan food options during our trip to Vietnam! It's really quite amazing he took on board our suggestion to have a scrambled tofu on the menu as a vegan breakfast item. I am sure this will be a popular choice with other vegan travelers! Thank you to all the staff members who made our stay here so lovely. We will be back for sure.

What a unique and charming place! We were concerned about staying in such an isolated location (almost an hour from Sa Pa town), but we absolutely made the right decision to stay at Topas Ecolodge. The location is spectacular. You could really be happy just sitting on your balcony and looking out the window, but there are hikes and bike rides you can take all around the lodge through the rice fields (make sure to take some small bills so you can buy trinkets from the Red Dao women who will insist on hiking with you until you buy a bracelet!). We also enjoyed a day-long guided hike through the rice fields and a Red Dao village. The pool is gorgeous, and they are in the process of adding a hot tub! The food was amazing, and one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever had was included with our stay. The lodge was a friendly place, and we enjoyed chatting and getting advice from other travelers. I would advise travelers to book the hotel's shuttle from Hanoi. It was much more comfortable and efficient than the night train (we did both).
