Early this morning, transfer from the airport or your hotel in Mandalay to Monywa to catch the cruise. (3 hours trip)
After checking in and lunch, we begin our first excursion to Thanboddhay Pagoda and next is the two gigantic standing and reclining Buddha Images – Maha Bodhi Tahtaung.
Later in the evening, make a trip to the night market (subject to the market schedule).

PHOWIN TAUNG
After breakfast today, leave the trip to go on coach for a journey to Po Win Taung Cave Pagoda. Inside the walls of these structures are colorful and lively murals. After the visit, we go back on board and resume our journey on the Chindwin River.

CRUISING
Spend the whole day of leisure on board passing through the slow life by the river. You can leave the ship for a brief walk in the Kanee Village on your way.

MINGKIN
Mingkin is rather unknown to the tourists in general, but according Pandaw founder, Paul Strachan, it is most comparable and even has an edge over the crowded Bagan. Paul even said that the town was like Luang Prabang, UNESCO Heritage Town, by the Chindwin river. Here you can find the distinct Konbaung era teak monastery. The we explore the Kalewa with the small markets and charming little wood buildings.

MAWLAIK
The morning will be dedicated to a visit to Mawlaik – the former headquarter of the Bombay Burmah Trading company and old retreat for the British. The town has a green golf course surrounded by “Dak Bungalows” from a forgotten time.
The afternoon, on the cruise we will pass through the exit of the Yu River which drains from the Kubu Valley.

SITTHAUNG
Sitthaung in the graveyard of the few ships that was purposefully sunken by the British during the World War II so that the Japanese couldn’t get their hands on them. As evidence, the town here are full of colonial building as Irrawaddy Flotilla Company’s old offices still remains here.

TOUNGDOOT
Taungdoot is an old ancient capital that even during the first Anglo-Burma War there was still a ruling royalty and palace in place. Here visit the town you can learn from our guide about the rich history of the secluded town.
Continue the day by sailing toward Homalin.

HOMALIN
After breakfast, we will disembark from the cruise and transfer you to the airport for your flight back to Yangon or Mandalay.
IMPORTANT: During the month of December to March. The water level will decrease dramatically so we might not be able to reach Homalin. Thus, alternative itinerary shall be in place.

MINGKIN
Morning cruise up river. After lunch, we explore Mingkin, rediscovered by Paul Strachan in 1987 and described in some detail in his book Mandalay: Travels from the Golden City. It remains for Paul the most art historically interesting site in Myanmar (more so than the now spoilt Pagan) with its Konbaung court style teak monasteries sumptuously decorated. Mingkin may be described as the Luang Prabang of the Chindwin.

Enjoy a light stroll in the street of Mingkin before going back to the cruise to sail upward to Kalewa.
Here arrive, we disembark from the cruise and take a trip around the remote town.

Morning excursion by Tuk Tuk or coach to Bus to view the Teak wood Forest outside Mawlaik. Continue to the Pyar Swe Elephant Camp, a working camp where the elephants are protected in natural surroundings. We then sail to Kalewa where we overnight.
Begin a day with a tuk tuk or coach ride into the lush teak forest on the outskirt of Mawlaik. We will reach Pyar Swe Elephan Camp to learn about the people’s effort here to protect and safekeeping the elephant in the region.

KALEWA
